Signature Series Book Designs By mac:method

Friday, February 9th, 2007

mac:method and Silvery Stars Productions have teamed up to release a series of theme plugins for creating Aperture books. While these plugins don’t exactly fit the category of an export plugin (the type you can make with the Aperture SDK) they certainly do expand what is currently possible with Aperture’s book feature set.

Prices for the themes begin at $20 and there are currently three themes to choose from.

In the not to distant future we will be adding a special section for Aperture Book Themes under Plugged In.

My First Plugin

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

For the last few days I have been trying to build my first bona fide Aperture plugin. The effort began pretty simply, I ran into a few hiccups along the way, but now I have actually created a plugin that works, and well, it does a very nice job of… you guessed it, exporting images from within Aperture.

Join The Aperture Mailing List

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

If you haven’t already done so, and you are interested in developing a plugin for Aperture, get yourself on the Aperture mailing list. The subscription is free and the audience is top notch. I had a quick question regarding the writing of my first plugin the other night and it only took a few minutes before I had a bunch of experts trying to solve my problem.

As with most mailing lists you can chose to get all the emails or have them put together in a daily digest. Naturally I am hoping that developers will begin to come to the forums on this site, but the Apple mailing list for Aperture developers is a great place to get your questions answered quickly.

To join just follow this link and step yourself through the easy instructions. Once you have confirmed your subscription via email, you can make posts simply by sending an email to the mailing list’s email address.

Site Update: RSS Feeds for Plugged In

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

You can now subscribe to the RSS feed for an individual plugin by going to that plugin’s page and clicking the link above the first post. This will allow you to follow the updates and news for a specific plugin. Of course you can always subscribe to the feed for the entire site, site comments, or forum topics.

I have also changed the permalink structure to utilize a better naming convention. If you have already made bookmarks to individual pages, they should still work, but now instead of an ID number for each page, there is a more descriptive name.

As the site continues to grow, I will try and make more and more technical improvements. If you happen to see a bug, or have an idea for a feature I’ve missed, please shoot me an email via our contact page.

Enjoy!
