Übermind Releases Aperture to Archive

Übermind has just released Aperture to Archive, a plugin for Aperture that allows you to export images to a compressed format.

Aperture to Archive supports four of the most popular Apple and Unix compression formats including: DMG, ZIP, Bzip2, and Gzip2. The compression has no effect on image quality.

Note that Aperture to Archive is a BETA product and expires on 7/31/2007.


 

 

Plugged In: ApertureToGmail

ApertureToGmail. was released to the public back in April by Juan Leon, who also developed the iPhotoToGmail plugin.

The goal of ApertureToGmail is to offer seamless integration between Aperture and Google’s Gmail. ApertureToGmail, which was written during Leon’s 30 day free trial of Aperture, has all the features of iPhotoToGmail. ApertureToGmail is now public at version 0.2, and can be downloaded from Leon’s site here.

Apple Updates Tiger, Adds RAW Support for Leica and Others

Apple has released OS X 10.4.10, an update to OS X Tiger that includes RAW image support for the following cameras:

  1. Panasonic DMC-LX1
  2. Panasonic DMC-LX2
  3. Leica M8
  4. Leica D-LUX 2
  5. Leica D-LUX 3
  6. Fuji S5 Pro
  7. Nikon D40x
  8. Canon EOS 1D Mark III

In addition to support for more cameras, the update includes fixes for the following items:

  1. Resolves an issue in which some DNG images may appear tinted or distorted.
  2. Improves compatibility of Mathematica 6 with 64-bit Macs.

The 10.4.10 Update is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger. This update includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:

- RAW camera support
- Mounting and unmounting external USB devices
- Support for 3rd party software applications
- Security updates.

Übermind Releases Aperture to Picasa Web Albums

Übermind has just announced a plugin for Aperture that allows image export directly to Google’s Picasa Web Albums site.

Aperture to Picasa Web Albums 1.0 is a beta product that expires on July 15, 2007. Until then Aperture to Picasa Web Albums has the following features:

  • Ability to create new albums
  • Support for Public and Unlisted Albums
  • Ability to view album covers
  • A status indicator show how much storage you have left
  • Automatic uploading of Aperture keywords as Picasa tags
  • Support for Mac OS X Keychain

Aperture to Picasa Wed Albums is currently available as a free download from Übermind’s site.


 

 

“More On Export Plug-Ins” Inside Aperture Podcast

Derrick Story of Inside Aperture has posted Inside Aperture Podcast 16 titled: “More On Export Plug-Ins.”

On June 12th, during WWDC 2007, Derrick Story had a chance to sit down with Richard Kerris from the Apple Aperture team, Micah Walter, and David Schloss of the Aperture Users Professional Network at the W Hotel in San Francisco. In the podcast they discuss developing plugins for Aperture, new plugins, the newly renovated Aperture Plugged In, and the Aperture Users Professional Network.

Aperture Plugged In - 2.0

Welcome to Aperture Plugged In - 2.0. We are very pleased to announce the release of our new website. We have been working really hard to make this website easier to navigate, and more useful as a resource. In the weeks to come, we will be adding more and more content and the Plugged In franchise will be expanding. So, be sure to check in from time to time.

WWDC:

Right now, the editors at Aperture Plugged In are hanging out in San Francisco for Apple’s WWDC07 event. What is sure to be a great week-long event will kick off tomorrow with a Keynote address by Steve himself.
