DNGExport Updated

November 4th, 2007

I have made a couple of minor updates to the DNGExport plugin that I released earlier this morning. This newer version fixes a problem having to do with the Embed Original RAW Image option. I have also added the initial implementation for the progress bar, however it is pretty rudimentary.

    I just noticed a small bug where it causes Aperture to crash if you click Cancel during an export. It looks as if it is going to work but after a few seconds Aperture crashes. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Also, I realize that converting each image one at a time may take a little longer than if I had it set to convert the entire batch as a folder after export. So, I will look into making this change, however it may cause an issue with deleting the original files…

    Update: I just realized thanks to a commneter that my installer package was putting the plugin in a strange place. I have fixed the problem, so if you don’t see the plugin showing up in Aperture please download and run the installer again.

    It should put the plugin in your /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Export folder and you should be able to see it listed in the Export tab when you right click an image.

    Also, I have not yet tested this on Tiger, so please be patient if it doesn’t work on Tiger yet. Hopefully I will have a chance to try it out in a couple of days or so.

    Micah,

    I’ve been thinking about buying Nikon Capture NX and using it for my external editor but it’s not really an advantage without NX receiving an original .NEF ( raw ) file.
    Will this DNG Export plug-in give me back an original .NEF file that I can take into Capture NX and then let me save the edited file back to Aperture ?

    HEllo, I just downloaded the new updated DNG export plug in, I installed it into my Trial vers. 2.0 and when I tried it out it said fail to load.
    is there a reason why it didn t work?, perhaps is not V.2.0 compatible or it is because it is a trial version?
    anyway, thanks for taking the time.
